Hello!

Day 1

You'll be glad to know that i have arrived safely. I didn't sleep at all last night, due to jet lag, but my room is nice and i have my own bathroom (western style toilet!!). It's a bit overwhelming going from being surrounded by people i know in England to being here on my own. A girl called Tara who i was in contact with in England is arriving on the 12th, so i am looking forward to that.

The people that i am staying with are very friendly and they are going to show me around the area later on this afternoon. I have very good internet acess right outside my room, so i have no excuse not to keep you all updated.

This afternoon, when it was cooler Babu showed me around Trivandrum. The area is so green and lush. There are huge palm trees everywhere! We went over to his friends house where we were cooked a traditional indian meal, which was very nice. I haven't quite mastered the art of eating with just my right hand so it was quite a messy experiance! The mother was really nice and she has invited me along to her meditation class on monday, which hopefully i will be able to go to if i finish at the centre early enough.

Everybody i have met have been incredibly friendly and eager to practice their English skills with you. It's been a very long day but i can't wait until tomorrow.
