Hello! I have had such a good few days!!
On the 14th we visitd the Bikaner fort where the Maharajas used to live. An old couple let us join in their tour so we learnt a lot about the fort. The maharajas had lots of wives (between 30 and 365) and it was interesting to learn about them. after the fort we travelled to Jaisalmer (the golden city). Once in Jaisalmer we rushed to see the sunset and 'sunset point' but we missed it which was a little bit annoying but we still got some good photos. We then went to have curry and beer on a rooftop resturant. There was a really nice view of the city and it was really relaxing but unfortunately we both got bitten to death by mosquitoes!
On the morning of the 15th we had a tour around the fort of Jaisalmer. There are still about 5000 people living within the fort that surrounds the old town. We visited a few temples (there will be photos of them on Jess's blog) which had amazing sculptures all done in stone. We had the oppertunity to see how some of the gold and silver jewelery is made and we also managed to fit in some shopping! (I brought 2 skirts and 2 trousers).
We then drove toward the desert to begin our camel safari. We were given the choice to sleep in huts or under the stars, so we chose under the stars (i was expecting it to be a bit like the camp in Dubai - i should have known better!). We rode for about 1 hour until we reached our destination... the top of a sand dune. No camp, no beds, no one else, just Jess, the 2 guides, and I. we watched the sunset which was beautifal then a fire was made and lit whilst we had a very nice dinner and our 'beds' were laid out ( cushions on top of the dune, with a blanket). We got into our beds and stargazed for hours. They were so amazing, i don't think i have ever seen so many! It was such a clear night and i saw my fair share of shooting stars. The beds were fairly uncomfortable but it didn't matter because when you woke up you could just look at the stars for a bit longer! We woke up to watch the sunrise (again, very beautifal) then made our way back to the main camp for breakfast before setting off for Jodphur.
We are now in Jodphur where we are spending the next 2 nights. Tomorrow we have a tour around the city which should be quite interesting.
I hope you are all okay. Miss you all. xxxxxxxxxxx
