After a short boat ride we arrived at Koh Samui. Erik from our last hostel joined us and we headed for our guesthouse. It was Irish pub down a narrow side street lined with bars full of Thai prostitutes. We'd play pool and stare in amaze at the types of people speaking with the girls. One girl took an old man upstairs into our guesthouse :|
Koh Samui was a weird place, it was like being in Europe. Full of British people and expensive! I went down the beach to watch the fire spinners with Erik while Taylor went to the gym - apparently gains are still life. Erik got played by a girl challenging him at a thumb war. He lost twice and had to pay 200 baht (about £4). I got a flower necklace out of it though. Think he was getting use to it as he'd lost 700 baht playing connect four on the last island. He also ended up play 100 baht to have a photo with a giant lizard. Quite funny really.
Taylor eventually came back telling us how he'd made a new dog friend who he had bought meat and water for from 7/11 and how it followed him all the way home. Mr Animal lover is always collecting these strays! Nothing really exciting on our first night apart from cheap pizza in a restaurant where they added 13% on the bill for tax at the end! Cheeeky. We stayed in the bar and played abit of pool afterwards.
The second day Erik left on his journeys and we rented bikes to explore the island. It was actually really beautiful and not like Benidorm where we were staying. There were incredible views and we stopped at temples and places on the way. Our best find was the dead monk in a glass box with sunglasses on. Apparently his life of meditation stopped him from decaying when he died so they put him in the glass box. His eyes had gone to mush, so obviously the best idea was sunglasses hahaha
Our last stop of the day was a waterfall. We actually ended up there just before closing time so it was quite empty. Really nice to just chill and watch the water.
As a whole we had a good time in Koh Samui but for us it was too touristy and we were soo ready to move on to the next place.
Roll on Koh Tao <3
