It's taken a while to decide but this is me attempting at writing a blog again. I'm writing this on a night ferry; the first 6 hours of our journey to Krabi.
Lots to catch up on so il try to be brief.
Bangkok - spent the first few days of our trip in Bangkok in a lovely little airbnb apartment. Temples were the main attraction for us and we practically saw the whole city. We decided to check out Khao San Road on our first proper night. "Not to drink" we said "let's just see what it's like". One does not just simply "check out" Khao San Road! We arrived home about 4am after about 5 vodka buckets, pad Thai and a street party in the rain with a guy in a horse mask. Let's not forget the psycho tuk tuk driver who rallied raced us home. Successful first night we thought.
The next few days basically consisted of sickness. Buckets = heaven then the deep pit of hell. We pushed through and enjoyed the next few days trying not to vomit every few minutes when we passed street stalls selling orange "meat" on sticks. Bangkok became the city of vile smells and we were ready to move on.
One last adventure to the markets. In between market sellers, me vomiting and old Thai men trying to get us to watch lady boy strippers and ping pong shows, we ventured out. Accidentally went down the gay district with Taylor being wolf whistled and felt up by the Thai men and a street selling Thai women. Interesting night we thought.. can't get any stranger right? Of course we're in Bangkok.. Got scammed by a tuk tuk driver on the way to to China town - refused to pay his ridiculous scam, could not find Taylor noodles any where! Is this not Asia?! All we could find was shark fin soup and orange meat. Gave up and walked out of China town into a street full of homeless people and possibly a dead man covered by a cardboard box? We ended the night with Taylor eating pizza and then sitting in a temple watching the worshippers. It was so beautiful - they gave us fruit and water and we lit a candle as we left.
We loved Bangkok and what it had to offer but it was time to move on.
By the way.. I don't understand why but I cannot find cheese and mushroom toasties in any 7/11!!! :|
