Ride out day 5 - Homeward bound! (Better late than never...)
We saw waterfall after waterfall after waterfall after hot spring after cave SIGNS and didn't stop at one! Actually couldnt be arsed! We'd had enough of the bike and were looking forward to returning to the familiarity of Roger's guesthouse.
However, it was an amazing experience and was good to get off the beaten track but 5 days was a bit tight for all we wanted to see and do and would have loved to have stayed in both Pai and Cave Lodge an extra day or two.
So after arriving back in Chiang Mai and dumping our bags off at the guesthouse we popped down to big tony's to drop our bike in and get a bite to eat. We haven't had a bad meal since we've been here and been loving the Thai cuisine BUT . . . . .following a moment of weakness (and a long slog on an ass numbing bike) we found a dodgy little English bar called 'the escape bar' and chowed down on a dirty fat burger! It was a bit of an anti-climax to be honest, soo hungry and sooo tired and we had to go for a lie down after it :)
Night time came and off we went to the little Thai restaurant Regina's for pork red curry, Thai fishcakes, spicy papaya salad and pineapple fried rice! Lush! We needed to get passport photos for our Laos visa's so we walked into the night bazaar and found a camera shop that did them - we followed a little thai man upstairs and into his little photo studio - it was hilarious, we were just looking for a simple pic to use but he was all professional telling us to tilt our heads to the left, down a little, shoulder up etc it made no difference though, Sinead came out looking like a boy, sitting on a grandpa stool waiting for her werthers originals!
Also, we realised how tight we had become from just being out here when Sinead saw her knock off Chanel watch for sale for £35! They retail at £3,800 but she still wouldnt fork out a measly £35 for it - really, it is knock off so £20 is plenty as they say ;)
We had a drink near the foxy lady bar (yes, its exactly what you think it is) and we headed off as we needed to get up early for our bus to LAOS.......
