After a busy day yesterday and a late night last night we accidently slept in this morning! We were booked to go on a trip called the Flight of the Gibbons. The bus was to collect us at 9.00, when we woke it was 9.32 - with blind panic we were up, out of the bed and dressed to see if we could make another bus only to be told that 'it's fine, the bus comes at 9.45'! SCORE. Apparently they had rang last night to say it would be 45mins late so we managed to get ourselves sorted in the 7mins remaining and the lady working in the guest house did us up toast in a take away container and a plastic knift to put the butter on with.
We arrived an hour later in the rainforest, flight of the gibbons is basically a ziplining activity that allows you to zip from the top of the rainforest, over the canopy, to the bottom along the same route a gibbon would take if they were to do it. This was such good fun and an amazing experience, it's a bit difficult to describe but the photos and the videos should be explainatory enough. Luckily Sinead wasnt fully awake when we first arrived and once we got to the first platform there was no turning back so flying over the canopy, climbing up cargo nets and absailing down giganitc trees was the only way out. Luckily we also managed to see wild gibbons in the trees, males, females and a baby.
We also went to a waterfall to chill out after our ziplining. We had met an english couple the previous day that are staying in the same guesthouse and were on the same trip. While Matt and James went hiking to the top of the waterfall, the girls sat and chatted to the bus driver. Sinead being Sinead got stung by what looked like a caterpillar, immediatly her elbow was red and a blister was forming. The lady that was there had a red remedy that she rubbed in it, then she called over her friend who put some green ointment on it. This made her smell like she'd poured a bottle of mouthwash over her but it took the sting away and within hours there was no evidence she had even been stung!
Tomorrow we are hiring a motorbike for 5days to do the Mae Hong Son Loop - this is a twisty turny road that goes from Chiang Mai - Pai - Sappong - Mae Hong Son and back to Chiang Mai. It is supposed to have the most amazing views and a round trip is nearly 1000km. So wish us luck and we shall update you on our travels once we get back to Chiang Mai in 5days.
