On the Road to Laos
So apologies for the lack of updates since we finished the Mae Hong Son loop but we have literally been travelling the entire time. We were supposed to leave the guesthouse at 10am on Wednesday morning but at 10.40 and still no sign of the mini bus the lovely lady who gave us our toast 'to go' when we were late for the gibbons, rang the driver who informed us that he was at the 'gas' station and would be another 10/20 mins - we got picked up at 11 and literally 2mins down the road we stopped at a 'gas' station lol bullsh*t - anyway we got comfortable for our 6hour drive to the border. I was totally up for writing random stuff on the blog page, like if Dee and me had a club foot off who would win and if the Thai's can get phone reception in the back arse of no-where then how come O2 are so sh*t in the UK but the bus was driving that fast around the bends and over bumps that I thought it best not to put the net book in danger of flying through the roof!
We stopped off half way at Chiang Rai and got to see the amazing white temple, which looks like porcelaine - it was really spectacular and nothing like we had seen since we arrived! The whole thing glistened in the sun and looked spotless. It was a bit freaky though as the entrance had creepy hands reaching out of the earth and there was a painting on the wall behind a monk praying that depicted the twin towers with a plane crashing into them and flames coming out. There was also another one that had Keanu Reeves as Neo from the matrix. There was another gold temple there too, which actually turned out to be the cleanest toilets we had been in and outside stood a tree with dead heads hanging from the branches- very odd, but very interesting.
