Akureyri, Iceland is located on Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjordur, and has been settled since the Vikings arrived in the 9th century and has long been dominating fishing due to an ice free port.
We are docking in Fiskitangi.
Highlights are the church, waterfalls, and Motorcycle Museum of Iceland.
Donna I is winged-it today and took the Free City bus # 6 to the Icelandic Motorcycle Museum. Well-kept little secret! Very nice museum with over 100 bikes. It is not run by the city, so it is no directly off the city bus line, but only a 5 minute walk.
Gorgeous cloudless day, 52 degrees and sunny.
We took the bus back into town and had lunch at a cafe a gal in one of the museum's told us about. Donna had the filet of horse, and I had a nice seafood plate.
Day 2 - tomorrow includes a shore excurion to the Godafoss Waterfall.
