Sept 2 -second day at sea Very calm seas today, and the thick overnight fog has cleared. Beautiful sunny day at sea. Went to an informational lecture regarding St John's, Newfoundland, "The Rock", our last stop before heading to NJ. It is the oldest city in North America. Half-hour time zone difference tonight. Eastern coast is "glacier alley". This is my second visit to Newfoundland; last was in 2014 on motorcycle trip. So, it will be interesting to see it ...

Sept 1 - day 1 of 3 days at sea Crossed the Arctic Circle at 12:15am this morning. The Captain came over the loudspeaker to announce it, and to also announce that you could see the Aurora Borealis on both sides of the ship. We could see them from our balcony on the starboard side. Akureyri, Iceland is located on Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjordur, and has been settled since the Vikings arrived in the 9th century and has long been dominating fishing due to an ice free port. We are docking in Fiskitangi. Highlights are the church, waterfalls, and Motorcycle Museum of Iceland. Donna I is winged-it today and took the Free City bus # 6 to the Icelandic Motorcycle Museum. Well-kept little secret! Very nice museum with over 100 bikes....

No shore excursion for us today. We have to be back onboard the ship at 1:30pm. Donna and I took off for a walk on the headlands. There is an artist's museum there, but it was closed. There is also an artist living on the headlands, and he allows visitors to walk around his property to see all his creative metal artwork. Chilly and wind started to kick up as storm moved in, luckily we got back to the ship before it hit!
