We checked back into our hostel when we arrived back from the trip. This time we opted for a double room as we were in need of a place to air our clothes and have a ly-in. You would have thought we were in a posh hotel so it was the right option.. And for only £12!
After sorting our smelly clothes, we met 6 of the guys from the trip for the free beer happy hour. We then all headed to Chicken Street ( they have a street for everything here!) for some incredible food. Between the two of us we had 8 beers, 3 chicken breasts, 2 chicken wings, a chicken foot ( for Samuel- it looked gross!!), ribs, 2 honey breads and 2 lots of potato wedges. The bill came to a grand total of £8.80.. Insane!
After food we headed out for more drinks.
Due to a late night and busy few days we missed breakfast so we could ly-in! We then went to Fruit Shake Street for me and found a nice bakery for Samuel. In true Samuel style he ordered a milkshake, bagel and 3 deserts!!
We then headed to the Temple of Literature.. Very different from the Temples in Thailand. After, we wandered to a few historical sites and caught glimpses of real Vietnamese culture along the way.
After all our site seeing we headed to a restaurant called Koto that had been recommended to us. They take in kids off the street and teach them to speak English whilst training them. Both the food and service were incredible. We both chose the same ( you can see a pic of it) and in England you would have paid a lot for this meal!
It was then time to leave Hanoi. We got picked up at about 6.30pm by a shuttle bus that took us to a bigger sleeper bus. After being shouted at to take our shoes off, we eventually found the only beds left on the bus. Right at the back were three beds right next to one another. Luckily the girl next to us was English and really nice. However, Samuel only just about fitted through the gap to get into the bed, as there was another triple bed above us! We definitely saw some sights on the bus!!!
Luckily, we arrived in one piece at 5.30am, where we were picked straight up and brought to our hostel near Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Now we are just waiting to check into our room to then go and explore :)
