From Hanoi we set off for Dong Hoi, where we would visit Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
We rented a scooter, not quite as cool as my bike in Thailand but it did the job.
Our first stop was Dark Cave and as the name suggests it was literally pitch black, but we had head lamps so it was ok.
Our guide Ping lead us to the cave by kayaks. He then lead us through the cave through water, over rocks until we eventually made it to the mud bath. You'll see from the pics we were literally covered! Ping told us to turn off our head lamps and continue the mud fight. Jazz was not impressed when I literally filled her ear with mud. She's still not cleared it completely! We completed our tour with a nice swim to clean off all the mud..refreshing!
We continued around the park on our scooter soaking in the views and culture, it was beautiful.
Our next stop was Paradise Cave. This was a dry cave that was huuuuge, pretty impressive if your into caves I suppose! We were a bit disappointed though after all the fun in Dark Cave.
That was pretty much the extent off our stop over. It was worth the stop but not our favourite place, so we were looking forward to our next stop, Hoi An. Every one we have met has said this was there favourite place in Vietnam. Having now been here for a few days we can see why..stay tuned for the Hoi An post x
