We returned to Chiang Mai from Pai on Thursday. Our ride back was not as fun as our ride there. We didn't stop as much so our backs and bums were very sore but on the plus side it only took 3.5hrs rather than the 6 hrs it had taken to get to there. For the rest of the day we just chilled out and had incredible food from one of the street food stalls!
The next day I took part in a Muay Thai session. It started with him basically rubbing me up with some sort of warming oil, let's just say he wasn't shy! I then had to run 60 laps of the ring, do ten minutes of skipping with the thickest rope ever and then we got into the drills! I had to do various kicks and knees, repeating them hundreds of times, I didn't think it would be so hard but it caught me by surprise!
The real fun came when he got the pads out, I basically got to beat him up. You'll see by the pics that he was tiny but he loved it and said I was strong so that made me happy :) After the pad work I thought we had finished, until he made me repeat even more kicks and punches on the bag before finishing with 60 sit-ups to complete the session. Overall it was a quality morning but after two weeks of no real exercise I was glad it was over!
We finished our morning with an amazing breaky at the much recommended bagel house before searching the streets for a place to get a massage. Much to my delight it was not long before we were both sat in a massage chair being pampered, completely different to our experience at the massage parlour in Bangkok!
We spent the rest of the day chilling out at our hostel reading (yes I can read) and enjoying the sun. Not much to report about the eve as we had an early night to prepare for today's amazing experience..see next blog :)
