After a very smooth transfer from Bangkok we arrived on our first island, koh Tao. After a quick freshen up we went for a walk along the main beach where we had planned to spend the day. The plan quickly changed when we decided there must be nicer places to go!
We got a local beach guide and decided on shark bay. We made the current decision as it was beautiful.
Koh Tao is a very rocky island which really adds character to all the bays. It also makes a great playground when you're bored of sun bathing. Myself, Sam and Si decided to have a little explore. It was all going so well until I slipped and ended up slashing my hand and feet. The rocks are covered in tiny shells that act like razor blades and take no prisoners!! I've now had an awkward limp for a few days but recovering well!
After dinner we had a wander around and ended up at a fire show, probably the best one we've seen. One of the performers even lit Si's fag with a spinning fire ball (check out the pic).
The next day we got a boat to a small island off of Koh Tao, Nang Yuan. This is one of the coolest beaches we have been to.
When we first arrived we thought we would check out the viewpoint. After losing about a stone in sweat, we made it to the top to experience the most incredible view!
With the trek out the way we spent the rest of the day maxin relaxin!
We had met a couple of lads on the beach and all decided to take on 'all you can eat' pizza for dinner. Expecting a Pizza Hut buffet we were a little disappointed at first. Basically a waiter just walks around handing out slices when you've finished. It started slow but I think they got the hint as we had finished our slice before he had even walked away, so the service got much better. Before we knew it we had easily consumed well over a pizza each. I think the restaurant knew this and were trying to get rid of us so they boughten over an egg pizza, nothing else just egg. No one dived in the same way they had been and our 'all you can eat' was over!
The next morning the girls went off for their first experience of yoga while the boys tried to find quads to explore the island. Unfortunately they were all taken so taxi it was. The girls arrived back from yoga having had a great time and feeling very relaxed.
One of the lads we met the day before joined us and we spent the day at Freedom beach, a tiny little bay with just one restaurant over looking the sea. Beer in hand, with my girlfriend, best mate and some cool travel buddies...it's a hard life.
That night we joined onto the Koh Tao Pub Crawl. This started at choppers bar where we received our attire for the evening in the form of a classy printed vest, a free bucket and various stamps and discounts vouchers! After a few drinking games to warm us up and try to get rid of our buckets, we moved on to the second bar, for the pool party. Not much of a party as everyone was still pretty sober so only a few made use of the pool. Some impressive belly flops were performed though! Next stop was the lady boy show. This is where it got started and myself and Sam even ended up on stage. I loved it!
It was then back to choppers for live music, by far the best couple of hours on Koh Tao. The band were quality and the crowd were even better, jumping around on tables and chairs! The band finished with a ten minute mash up which was awesome and everyone moved onto the last bar absolutely buzzing! We ended our night at the beach party cutting some shapes and watching numerous nutters jump over, through and sometimes in fire. The best however was when the limbo became present and Sam conquered it with the frosby flop, priceless!
The next morning was not so fun we were getting picked up at 8.45 to move on to Koh Samui. We finally made it and spent the rest of the day recovering!
Today is our first proper day on Koh Samui and we're off to the beach for a change! X
