The 24th was the day we were going back to Sihanoukville. We were woken up at 6am by a wedding going on at the beach. The music was getting slightly repetitive and getting louder and louder so we weren't too upset about leaving.
After four nights of temperamental electricity, a cold shower and a temperamental fan we were in need of a flash packers place to stay. We checked into Beach Road hotel where we got a private room with air con, hot shower and TV for £15 a night. It also had a pool so that was a winner!! Therefore the rest of the day was spent chilling at the pool (as we have done most days).
In the evening we went to the cinema. You get a private room with a big screen TV and pick whatever film you want to watch. We chose American Hustle- a good choice! Strange experience but pretty cool.
Unfortunately we were awoken the next morning with bad bellies :( Samuels got worse, meaning he was bed bound for the whole day! We will not be eating in the hotel restaurant again as I'm pretty sure this was the cause!
The next day we wanted to book to go to Crusoe Island which sounded amazing. After going round the houses to try and book it we eventually found out that it was going to be closed for the rest of the month cos the wife of the family who run it had had a baby! We were a bit gutted but happy to spend a couple more nights in our luxury accommodation.
After spending the rest of the day round the pool, we went to the cinema again in the evening. This time we got a VIP room for four (Clare and Sam joined us) which was basically a giant bed with loads of pillows and a TV. We watched another good film- The Family.
We decided we'd been rather lazy so the next day we went on a boat trip. First we stopped at a small Island where we snorkelled. No way near as good as in Egypt but was a warm up for when we get to Koh Tao! We got back on he boat and had lunch.. Samuel actually ate Barracuda and liked it! Next we went to Bamboo Island where we chilled out for a few hours. On the way back we stopped at another small Island to do a bit more snorkelling. Not a bad day out for $15.
Yesterday Samuel got himself another toy... An off road bike. Sam got a sand buggy too so they were kept occupied playing most of the morning. Me and Clare joined them for a bit and by the end of it my face was black from dust!
Our last evening in Sihanoukville was a good one. We went to Big Easy (where we stayed the first time) for drinks and live music. It turned into a crazy jamming sesh involving most of the people in the bar, including a Gok Wan look a like.
This morning we awoke with fuzzy heads and got on the bus to Phnom Penh after 12days in the Sihanoukville area! Stay tuned for Phnom Penh blog!
