Our boat from Sihanoukville left at 9am and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the speed ferry, so arrived at Koh Rong 40mins later. We strolled along the beach and checked into our beach bungalow that we were sharing with Sam and Clare. By far the best accommodation we have stayed in so far, purely for the fact it was right on the beach. There are no roads so you just walk along the beach to get anywhere! Therefore we have forgotten what shoes are! One end is where the locals live and sell food, the other side has been a bit more developed!
The rest of the day was spent mainly chilling out on the beach and we rented paddle boards for an hour! The boys were in their element.
That evening we enjoyed an amazing BBQ on a rooftop bar overlooking the beach.
On Monday we decided we were going to trek to Long beach through the jungle. It was much more intense that we thought so with me and Clare in flip flops and dresses it was interesting! We finally arrived an hour later! The sea has never been more enticing! Unfortunately it wasn't as nice as the beach we are staying on but it made for a beautiful sunset.
Luckily we could get a boat back as we didn't fancy trekking back in the dark!
Tuesday we went exploring again, in search for another beach. The boys rented paddle boards again and me and Clare shared a kayak. The beach we found was much nicer than the day before! After chilling there for a bit, we paddled to another bit of beach with a restaurant to re-energise!
Today, our last day in Koh Rong, was pretty much spent chilling and enjoying our lush surroundings again. For an afternoon snack we wandered down to the local's end. We discovered the most amazing fruit salads for just $2 and Oreo shakes for $1 which we enjoyed on our balcony! Gutted we only discovered these on the last day!
This evening we found a cool little bar for dinner.
Tomorrow we head back to main land...We are a bit sad about leaving our little home but looking forward to electricity (they only have it on at certain times here) and no more sand fly bites!
