Sam the all star Trecker
Well what can I say about LA? Absolutely hilarious. The bus journeys are the most entertainment a person could ever want! Me and Vic have taken a number of them and Vic has been shouted at by a homeless man cos she stood on his foot (after I stood on it first and when he hopped off we actually realised his foot was already broken!!), I have sat next to what I thought was a really fat women with barely no clothes on then realised it was actually a really fat man dressed up as a women!! I have been chatted up and asked if I was an actress (yeah really---like I would be on a bus!), and watched a man walk up and down the bus showing everyone his fork!! Obviously no-one blinks and eyelid if you come from here but me and Vic find it amazing. Today we actually saw two really old ladies with perfect white teeth, wigs and fake tans. Then one called the other one mum and realised one must have been about 90, but had lots of face lifts, and the other maybe about 60!! They were great though told me about how they were off to Yoga, which I found very hard to believe as neither of them could walk.
Me and Vic got invited to watch the press screening of 'The Break Up' with Jennifer Anniston. It was absolutely amazing and the best film I have seen in ages. We got free tickets just to make up the numbers and were sat amongst the press! Everyone was clapping and laughing all the way through. LA is just mad. Woke up the other morning looked out the window and saw a nearly naked Male model having a photo shoot outside this restaurant. Went down to catch the bus and he said to us he had cramp---bless him....he was probably a little chilly too. It is definately a place for entertainment. Went to the Chinese theatre (you know that song about Marilyn Monroe) which was really cool saw some even weirder people there. Tom Cruise had been there the week before ...god damn it!!! The stars on the floor stretched for miles and there were random people dressed up as Batman and Sponge Bob just walking around acting normal. Saw the Kodak Theatre where American Idol was being filmed too. Down town Hollywood was a little groggy though not exactly how I imagined it. Had wicked time though.
Ok so what else have I done? Me and Vic had a hoot at Hooters where the waitresses wear next to nothing (i am sure you are all aware of it). Our waitress actually sat at our table and waited for us to order....maybe thats where the word wait...ress comes from!! A little bizarre I thought. Me and Vic got a little freaked out when a group of people wouldn't stop looking at us and then about an hour later a guy came over and swore he had met me before and that I came from Ilinois! He took a little persuading. We have also been down to Melrose Av to look at the amazing shops and also been for a little shop in Santa Monica. The night Hannah was due to arrive and meet up with us again was hilarious. We arrived a little late as the buses are not the most reliable then got there and realised there was a possible 6 terminals to choose from. After checking them all we decided that Hans plane must have been delayed. We tried catching a bus back to our apartment (after all the airport staff had told us not to as was a little dangerous at night) as we were on strictest budget, however by now it was 12 at night. We waited amongst the tramps at the station and then realised that we were actually in the roughest part of town called Inglewood waiting for a bus on our own. Luckily we managed to jump on a bus but it stopped short so we had to walk the rest of the way home. I was armed with my key and Vic had a leaflet (she figured she could give her attacker a paper cut) by the time we arrived home Hannah was already there tucked up in bed! Typical!!
Our accom was situated on Venice Beach where Baywatch was filmed. Also known as Muscle beach as they do the worlds stongest man here too. Lots of random people here and we spent a day learning how to skate board and we also got dragged into singing a line from a song for a TV show. Any way the line was 'down at the pawn shop' however we all thought it was porn and sang it with actions which the guys thought were hilarious! "no pawn they said" to be honest I can't tell the difference anyway. Lets just hope that one doesnt get on TV!!
We had a really good night out in Santa Monica with Matt and Lisa (a couple from our dorm). We ended up meeting others (all of which were related to the music or film industry in some way) and then going to a house party at some producers house. That was a very random night and the next day very hungover we went for dinner down the road in our PJ's as none of us could make it out of bed.
The funniest day of all however was the last day when we picked up our rental car and headed for the hollywood sign. We got some good pics and then headed to Rodeo drive to drool over all the designers. We also went in to the Beverly Regent Wiltshire Hotel where Pretty Women and Richard Gear had their encounters many years ago! Then minding my own business driving back to drop off Mat and Lisa a siren sounded behind me and a look of dread spread over my face when I realised
I was being pulled over. I managed to pull the car over with some panic and Han told me to sit still. The very tall and serious policeman walked over to the car and started grilling me 'do you know why you have been pulled over ma'am?'. To be honest I didn't have a clue and for once I knew I wasn't speeding. Anyway turned out I had driven over a pedestrian crossing when I was meant to stop. Believe me no-one saw it in the car and the roads are so rediculous over there anyway. Apparently I proper gave him the innocent eyes and 'I didn't know' smile and he then gave me a lecture about 'how in California ma'am we respect our pedestrians' and then gave me a grin and let me off. It was just like something out of a movie and abbsolutely hilarious!
Well LA was definately like nothing you have seen before with TV crews just about everywhere and everyone trying to stand out by being a little bit odd but I loved it! Wouldnt live their though!! Next stop was off to Santa Cruz for the night in our nice rental car.
