Daylight and other savings...
The US began daylight savings about 2 weeks ago, but today Europe caught up. Instead of waking an hour early today, I began when I should have been leaving. It worked out for the better. The line to the entrance of the Vatican Museum was almost 3 hours long by the time we got there because today is the last Sunday of the month and the museum is free! I went to the front to see how long the line was and ended up finding another entrance, so I was through security and enjoying exhibits within 10 minutes! Spent over two and a half hours wandering through ancient to current history and the Sistine Chapel. By noon I was ready to be done and exited down an amazing spiral staircase into St. Peter's square where the Pope came out and gave a great little speech in 10 different languages! (English was one of them! Whew!) Met up with friends I met in Florence and we went out for Pizza and came back to the hostel for a drink and some great conversation. Nice hot shower and a good, cozy sleep!
