ROMA!
Began by taking the Metro to the Colosseum and toured using my Roma pass which includes transportation and 2 attractions over 3 days! Walked all around trying to get the best views of the Colosseum, old columns and ruins. They are rebuilding the platform inside the Colosseum too! I wonder what sort of events they will hold when it is finished? Took the Metro to Flaminio stop to see the Piazza Popolo (people) and had a cheap lunch before hiking into the Borghese park where I rented a Segway! WHAT A BLAST! I really enjoyed getting some nature time since so much of this journey has been in cities. The sun was shining, the spring flowers blooming, and I was smiling like a fool riding a segway all around the huge park! I teased a group of joggers by moving my arms like I was running faster! Next I walked to the Spanish Steps and took Metro to the Barberini stop so I could walk to the Trevi Fountain. Sat in the sunshine and had a gelato (raspberry and banana) talked to Kelly and threw in my coin hoping for a return trip to Rome! Off to dinner now and a good sleep.
Lessons learned: It is OK to get good at telling street venders to "b***** off" when they bother you for photos, flowers or other crap they peddle.
Tomorrow Plans: St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.

Kendall What exactly do the asterisks in "b*****" stand for? Just wondering... I'm SO GLAD you did this, Sarah. You're seeing so much, and I'm loving reading about it all. Do you feel like you're Audrey in Roman Holiday? I kept pretending I was when I was in Rome. :) Have fun at St. Peter's tomorrow! When I was there, the Sistine Chapel was closed...bummer, huh? I bet you'll love it. - the asterisks stand for b-u-g-g-e-r as in b***** off!!! I didn't think they would asterisk it out for me though... I am glad I am doing this too! I DID feel like Audrey when I stuck my hand in the bocca! I wish Gregory Peck was there to tease me though. I had a great time in St. Peter's Basilica and will save the Vatican museum and sistine chapel until Sunday when it is FREE!! I love you Kenny- Glad you read my blog and are enjoying it! Kiss that cute baby girl for me!
Colleen While shopping at Fred Meyer.... there was Aunt Mollie... and our conversation included you... How about that Sarah... ! We both agreed that we are traveling Italy vicariously .... thanks so much... and, I love the leather jacket you modeled. ;) Keep Having a wonderful time! Jon and I will be back one of these days. ;) -I miss my Alaska family! So glad that you are visiting Italy with me! I love my jacket too! It will probably last a lifetime. Luvs to you and Jon and auntie Mollie!
Terry I. Oh, Sarah. Rome makes your trip come so alive for me. Your photos are stunning. It's as if the pages out of our old Humanities text have had real life breathed into them. I love it. AND: how 'bout that segway? Pat and I have had two great segway adventures in San Francisco, one just a couple of weeks ago. Keep up the fun! (and "hello!" to Kendall!) -Hi TERRY!!! I have been very happy with my trip photos so far, especially the night time ones! I feel like my Humanities and college experience is being put into better context every day I spend here. The Segway was FANTASTIC! My first time riding one! I smiled so much my cheeks hurt afterward! Luvs to you and Pat! P.S. I thought about his crash when I first stepped on and felt better knowing if I crashed I'd be in good company!
