Slept in a monastery last night - huge thick walls, no monks left only 200+ peregrinos (pilgrim walkers like Jeff and me) and hardly any snorers. I know as a I spent half the night awake lying in my own wee world with my eye mask on.
My first day of walking on my own - yes I bussed the first 14ks and hopped out ahead of Jeff. Happy happy -the track was really pretty, up and down dale passing grassy fields with cowbells donging - yes cowbell clanging on a poor horse too.
Brr, struck low in this refugio, much cheaper, 8Euros, no heating (frost this am) and toilets 20m walk across pebble yard. Segregated showers fortunately as shower roses communal - don't bend down for the soap Jeff!
Zubiri is bright clean mountain town with the whitewash and shutters look - generally morale is good.
