Day 21
Back in bus land - yesterday my steps got shorter and shorter then Jeff rang to say 3 German girls were sharing a taxi to the next big town - $4 ea - what bliss.
Now early morning in Carrion de Los Condes - the mind boggles the history - 9 hrs sleep in a convent with a clacking stork's nest outside my window. Did you know storks clack, clackity clack? Great to see these fairy tale birds co-existing in today's world often on top of tolling church bells.
Ate veges last night! Broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, carrots with tasty chickpea stew topped with spinach salad in the Albergue kitchen - Jeff walks with everyone so now we have some young mates - a kiwi, a German and an American who were keen cooks - we added the red wine and the wit :)
My job today is to conquer the bus system so I can turn up ea night at the right place - stuff this walking for a while. See photo - others have the same idea.
Whoops overshot so had to walk back 3kms to Ledigos and explain 'mi marido' to everyone else walking through -delightful Albergue, family atmosphere, sitting on sofa in the lounge in front of a fire :) Good food too - more vegs. Only 16 beds so risk of snorers is low - only NZ$13/ea.
But village mostly empty - some houses 2 story but a mud straw wall combo - Adobe?
