This morning we woke up early and it was a bit cold and hard to get out from the covers. We made some sandwiches and headed down to the bus stop right out front of out rv park. It took us on an hour and a half ride to Yosemite. Or as mike calls it Yoshimite. The lady knew the roads well and zoomed through the winding valley alongside the Merced River. It was very pretty scenery and we were greatful not to drive.
As we got closer to the park we started to see the snow on the side of the road it was so pretty & we were excited to see more than the 30seconds worth from a few days earlier.
When we arrived we headed to the Lower falls, took some photos & had something to eat. The sun was out so it was nice and warm by the falls. Then we headed to hire some bikes - would have been a nice way to see the park. A bit too expensive tho so we skipped the idea. There is a free bus so we hitched a ride to the Mirror Lake walk. The bus was so full I thought I was in a sardine can. The driver just said keep moving back people. Luckily for us we had seats and were watching them move to the back. It was only a short walk (1.6) past a lot of green moss growing on anything that will stay still long enough. But it was through a lot of water as the sun was melting the snow quickly and we were dodging the snow bombs falling from the trees.
Once we arrived we walked to the middle which was a bit like a beach area. Looking around we had a great view of Half Dome and huge mountains of solid rocks which surrounded the creek.
We sat in the sun, warmed up and finished lunch.
Then we headed to Curry Village - a small area filled by a camp of tents possibly for school camps. There is an outdoor ice rink which I was hoping to see but no luck it's finished for the season. Plenty of squirrels getting around tho! Must be a lot of food around for them by the camp kitchens. We also saw some Deers from the bus but no chance to stop.
It was getting late so we caught the next bus home. Yosemite was a beautiful park -it would be nice to have more time and really see behind the hills. A walk to the top of the falls would have been great but we don't have time to see it all.
Once we arrived back to the RV park we ordered some pizza and had an early night.
