Today we completed the Orange route of our bus ticket. It toured through the fancy part of Paris..Saint-German. Lovely to see. Very leafy and the autumn colours were starting to come through. We got off the bus near the Seine and caught the boat that was part of the pass (I feel we got value for money from L'Open Tour)
It was lovely to see the city from a different perspective - I had to keep checking the map on my phone to get my bearings. We got off the boat at Le Louvre and walked though the gardens to find a lovely café for a late lunch. Was an awesome afternoon walking though the streets of Paris.
Unfortunately we unwisely decided to get a cab to the Eiffel for dinner. The lady at the hotel recommended it....We should have walked or got the train. It was on this trip that we should have vowed - never get a taxi in Paris!!!
However, it was amazing to see how the taxi managed to get around the Arc De Triomphe with all the traffic going in all directions, with no white lines or traffic lights. Perhaps that part of the journey was worth it just for that.
Once we arrived at the Eiffel all taxi issues were forgotten. What an amazing evening. We had booked in advance and were rewarded with an excellent table next to the window with views of the Seine. Our package included champagne, wine and three courses of amazing food. For the first time I regret not taking photos of food or menus!!!
The lift went up the leg of the tower to the first floor where the restaurant was. The second level was free to go up to and was where the shop was located. At this level we bought a ticket to the top of the tower. It was very crowded and the Champagne Bar at the top was not how I imagined it.....but it didn't matter... the views were great.
The Eiffel is what I always think of when I think of Paris and now that memory will always include the evening at Eiffel 58. Another tick from the bucket list.
