after a 15 hour train journey,we finally landed in chiang mai, got are room for uk money 1.50 each!! not the nicest room ive ever stayed in like!! they said we also have a swimming pool aswell and when we got the hotel is what probably 5m x 5m, so you couldnt exactly do lengths in it!
Its nice here, bit more chilled out than bangkok and a little bit cheaper but not much. ive bin trying different thai foods but its hard when you love english food that much, so i treated myself to a 12" pepperoni pizza which was amazin (but felt awful after it as usual jane ha)!! we booked to go on a elephant trek, so had an earlyish night. highlight of the night though just having a drink in a bar then randomly a elephant outside so we went outside and payed 20p to feed it. well random!
we got picked up at 9 and headed towards a national park, we went to see the most amazin waterfall ive ever seen and even got to swim in it, then we drove up the mountains to start the trek through basically the jungle.
after round 2 hours of walking we stopped off in a tribe village called the karen tribe, which was such an eye opener, no electricity. and sleep in huts. then we carried on walking and got to the highest point of the mountains which was 1300m above sea level, and the views where amazing.
then we walked another 2.5 hours to the tribe village where we were staying over night, which was the same as the last village we visited. we had a swim in the lake, had tea, then had a few beers around a fire, with a thai guide sombat playing abit of the guitar.
we woke up at 7am and went fishing (should of stayed in bed) they had a net and that was it after 20minutes i gave up and went back to camp and they caught 3 fish, which we eat and were surprisingly nice.
we then trekked 2.5hours on a elephant. ali and alis mate who us with us at the moment sat in 2 seats on the elephant and i sat on the elephants neck which was well wierd like. after that we went bamboo rafting which were man made that morning. was good fun but really dangerous, i fell off in to rocks and down a mini waterfall but only a couple of bruises to come of it, dont think it would be legal in england like!!
Our next stop is laos. and takes 6hours on a bus, then an overnight stop in a hostel,11 hours the next day on a slow boat the another overnight stay in a hostel, then 6 hours on a slow boat, and then we arrive in laos. not looking forward to the journey at all!!!!
