Onward and upward as they say! We arrived at Queenstown and went straight to Deer Park Heights...a prime spot for Lord of the Rings locations! Had to pay $20 because its on private land and all around there are "tame" animals, mostly goats and llamas, but the occasional tibetan yak and bison! So we bought $2 worth of animal feed but went straight on to find the LOTR locations!firstly was were the Warg riders kill Hama as the people of Rohan flee to Helms Deep, then onto where Gimli falls off the horse to the amusment of Eowyn! :) Then we got to the location where Legolas spots the Wargs and shoots off a couple of precise arrows, next was where the people of Rohan leave Edoras, where Aragorn gets dragged off the cliff and finally where Aragorn runs down to warn Theoden that they are under attack!Very exciting stuff eh kids!:) Whilst we were finding each place we were pretty much getting attacked by rogue goats!!hahaha! It wasn't funny at the time mind!
So after finding all the places we went on to feed some animals, fed a llama but a goat knocked the food tin out of my hand and i was surrounded by hungry crazy goats, so had to do a runner, then I attempted to feed the Yak but matt thought it was about to charge so shouted "han get in the car" so I legged it again and dived onto the back seat head first, a close call indeed! Then after all that we thought we'd easily feed some cute little shetland ponies.....oh no! Went into the paddock and all 3 ponies came over, 2 of them looked like albino ponies! So we both held out our hands to feed them, but because there was 2 of us and 3 of them, it all went a bit crazy, one knocked the tin out of matts hand then the other one started bucking and fighting, so matt did a runner, whilst I tried to move away slowly in case I got knocked out!!:) In the end we both ran away scared and escaped narrowly!!:)
Apparently the animals are "tame" but I think they have got used to people feeding them and expect food , unfortunatley we mustr have gone there on a day they were all hungry! An experience all the same!
Next morning we went for breakfast and spotted a Lord of the Rings shop!
OH MY GOD, IT WAS AWESOME!absolutely rammed with intricate figures and memorabilia, all perfect replicas of the characters and swords, shields, helmets, was how I imagine my house in the future!:) A geeks dream!
