Ross and Nina Uncut
We arrived earlier at Tokyo international airport and managed to get accomadation through the tourist board at a japanese ryokan (guest house) near the centre of Tokyo. We got the train there, the first of many journeys on them and arrived before check in at our Ryokan. Much to the dismay of our hosts for our time in Japan (three old ladies who between them could say hello, money and bye-bye in english) who showed us the door as soon as we got there!
We managed to grab a change of clothes as we left as it was 10 degrees and shorts and sandals arent the warmest in those conditions and went for a walk in Nippori where we were staying. Its slightly more old town than the rest of Tokyo with a cemetry and lots of shrines near to where we were. It was nice to stay in away from the busy center of town and was 2 minutes walk from a station that connected us with the rest of Tokyo.
We spent the first few days in Japan getting our bearings in Tokyo and managed to fit in lots of sight seeing. We went to the imperial palace, the science museum, asakusa (a shopping and temple district of Tokyo), the national art museum and the mori observation tower at night which gave us an impressive view of how big Tokyo is!
Couldnt believe how clean and efficent everything is here! Its completely anal and Ross loves it! He was even timing the trains which were always on time. Only problem here seems to be the language barrier as very few people speak english so eating out is a bit pot luck!
