Ross and Gabs Travels
Friday 3rd August
Today we drove to Mitchell from Cunnanulla. We had not planned to go to Mitchell our intention was to go to Morven Recreation park where you get showers, toilets and power for $5.00 a night. When we got there we found very little room and no power outlets available, so we continued on to the Major Mitchell Caravan park at Mitchell another 90 kms down the road. When we got there and settled down we realized that we had a lot of road noise from the road trains along the highway. Then to cap it all off we heard the whistle of a freight train and the rumbling on the tracks as it went past. Lo and Behold the noise stopped at 10 as if by magic and we get a good nights sleep till 7.30 the next morning.
I must tell you about a town called Wyandra which we called in to on the way to Mitchell. It is a town with fences covered in bras. A general store/post office/ restaurant. It advertises on local radio as having alfresco dining and an outdoor theater in the caravan park. It is all in fun. We stayed here last year and they were in the process of "developing" the amenities. The alfresco dining area is a small area on gravel with a few assorted plastic chairs (the scones jam and cream were wonderful though) The outdoor theatre is in an old wooden hut. It really is a lot of fun and I don't think the photos do it justice.
