Ross and Gabs Travels
Monday 1st June
Tonight we stayed at Mount Hope with a population of 7, four of whom are related. It has a pub and a community hall with toilets out the back. You can stay beside the pub with no power, but
access to inside toilets and shower or at the community hall with power and outside public toilets and showers all free. We chose the community hall. Itwas okay, pretty cold (-1), but with power, the heater, electric blankets and DVDs we were set for the night. We offered to pay for the electricity but the publican said it was okay.
Tuesday 2nd and 3rd June
Drove to Bourke and booked in at Kidman's Camp at the Back of Bourke for two nights
Here you park in drive through sites where you choose your own site and have plenty
of room. We went for a walk to the river, but the water was down, but not down enough to stop a paddle steamer tour. We didn't go!
Thursday 4th June
Today we are driving to Cunnamulla.
Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th
We stayed in Cunnamulla for three nights. We could see as we
drove further north in western QLD just how dry the country is. There were very
few sheep or cattle to be seen. but lots of kangaroos, emus, goats and some
wild pig. Three or more years without significant rain is a long time, so no
feed remains on the ground, except for the roadsides which are quite green,
which accounts for the huge road kills between Cunnamulla and Bourke.
Sunday 7th June
Driving to Charleville
