hello,
So it has been a rainy few days in Nha Trang, which is really annoying as it is a beach town, so all i want to do is lye on the beach! On our second day here Julia and I met up with some of Julias friends that she had met previously in Laos. We went to their room just along the ropad and decided to move in with them. their room was bigger than ours and also cheaper, so the four of us sharing a room makes our accomodation super cheap at $3 a night each. Tehy are really nice and also from Canada, so i am severly outnumbered. We spent the day before yesteuday and the ay before that just watching movies in our room because of the rain, and doing a bit of shopping, and we also went to the market. we walked for bloddy hours in the rain to find this market (at least two hours out of the other side of town), and i didnt even get anything because people kept trying to rip me off. Yesturday after the rain cleared up in the evening, we hired some bike and cycled for about an 45 minutes out of town to a mud pool. i absolutely loved the cycle ride, but it was extrememly scary as not only are there no road rules, no lanes, no indication and generally is complete chaos, not to mention theat they drive on the oppostie side of the road to me, but it felt so good being on a bike again and just getting out and seeing areas where other tourists dont get to see. oh yeah and my bike hadno gears or brakes or lights, but was ok. so we went to this mud bath which was fun and a hot pool, and cycled home in the dark (trying to dodge other traffic and huge potholes.
Today the sun finally came out, so i went straight to the beach and spent all day there today. The other two canadian girls are leaving tomorrow so we are going to all go out for a few drinks tonight.
I really like Nha Trang, it is so different to see it in the sunlight, it makes such a difference. The sea is very rough though, with a huge rip if you try to swim in it, which i learned very quickly when i nearly drowned. The people in Vietnam all still wear the traditional hats all the time, which is something i only expected to see for tourists, but they are really still well used here. i think mainly to keep the sun off their faces so they can stay as white as possible. the women wear so many layers of clothing, how they all dont pass out is unbelieveable. they wear long sleeved shirts, jumpers and then a denim jacket on top, jeans and socks underneath their flip flops. then there are all the westerners trying to do everything they can to tan as quickly as possible. Tis weird.
Thanks for your suggestions for my camera problems (except you Jenny, i am not buying a 35mm camera) and AJ if you read this, thank for the advice. Will repay you with a game of s***head. i dont think it will work though as i think i have already tried that, but will try to give ita go next time i get to an internet cafe.
That's it for now, speak soon!!!!
