Day 5& 6
We arrived in Varanassi, and met off the Train by our Taxi driver who took us to our Hotel! It was so nice compared to our Hostel in Delhi, very impressed.
We then got driven into the City and down to the Ganges, where we met our boatman (Babu), who took us onto his boat. Our Boatride was amazing and we saw lots of religious ceromonies happening along the Ganges. I found it quite overwhelming, especially the public cremations. We lit our candles and placed them into the water. This, we were told, gives you good Karma! Afterwards we walked trough the markets and streets along the Ganges. A really nice place.
Our next day we got an auto-rickshaw down to the Ganges which was hilarious for me, very bumpy and we kept nearly crashing into cow's. The driver also put Indian love songs on really loud, very embarrassing!
We spent the majority of the day walking along the Ganges, which was really relaxing. Spoke to some of the children who lived on the river banks. I bought a little box of Indian body art tools, from a little girl called monica, and Rog bought a postcard from a boy who was waiting for his brother as he washed in the Ganges. Ended up walking through the back streets, which really smelt, eventually found the main road. We caught a rickshaw back to the Hotel, but Rog basically sat on me as it was tiny! Fatty!
Caught Taxi to train station, we were there 2 hours early, brilliant. Then to find out our train was delayed by two hours! Rummy it is!
