Today's photo is the beautiful view we had from our prime table on the verandah at Wynn Country Club for our Christmas lunch. It was fabulous. We started with cocktails & had 3 courses but dessert had to be shared because we were pretty full. The staff didn't hurry us & we could just relax & look at the view sipping wine. Perfect! The sun was shining & was on our table when we first sat down but it moved away fairly quickly. But just when it started to feel chilly they put the overhead heaters on. It was a lovely Christmas lunch, just missing our families.
Last night we went to see O by Cirque du Soliel which was playing in Bellagio. It was an excellent show - much of it performed in the water. The stage transformed from hard to water, sometimes shallow & sometimes extremely deep without the audience even noticing. There are so many things going on at once it was hard to know where to look. The pool is kept at 31 degrees & has a communication system & regulators so the performers can breathe underwater. The audience area is kept at a cooler temperature than the stage. The theatre was purpose built for O & it has been running since 1998. The performers were so clever - there were acrobats, gymnasts, synchronised swimmers, divers, contortionists, fire twirlers aerial artists & clowns. We both really enjoyed it.
We left Vegas at 7.30am & headed to Los Angeles. The traffic was good & only became heavy when we got close to LA. We stopped at the Citadel Factory Outlets on the way to West Hollywood. The traffic getting in was very heavy but we got a park relatively easily. We had lunch at our regular diner, Ruby's, before hitting the shops. There was a Kate Spade shop & this time I got in the queue to go in. I'm glad I didn't go in when we were in Vegas because everything in the store was 60% off today. We looked at a couple of other stores before heading for our favourite discount luggage man on Hollywood Boulevard. Luckily he was open today & even better he had a bag that just fitted the chicken box. I would have liked it a bit bigger so I could fit other stuff in it but at least I managed to stuff a couple of suits down the sides.
Just along from the luggage man is a place that sells costumes, props & magic tricks. Oscar & Fletchie, I have learnt a couple of tricks from the magician in there that I will show you & then teach Archie so he can join your magic show.
It was only a couple of minutes from Hollywood to Sunset Boulevard. We are definitely regulars at this hotel now! They seem to have upgraded a few things this year.
Tonight we had dinner at IHOP - International House of Pancakes which has been on Robyn's wish list for a couple of years. It was nice & they don't only sell pancakes.
Tomorrow we are off to Legoland.
