Day 4. To Puente La Reina
Peppers drying on a balcony in Puente la Reina, Spain.
Can't say enough how we liked Pamplona. Great walking city with river walks and pedestrian streets.
Out the door at 7 and quickly lost. And quickly found with local help before we even ask. These new shoes are a life saver or I would be on my knees as the feet are in real trouble from the first 3 days. Open skin on both heels and a massive blood blister. TMI? It occupies my thoughts. The boots are going to be donated to the albergue next door even though they are likely to cripple another peregrino.
More great scenery, great company and a great hotel. If I knew we could count on a pension or hotel every day rather than an albergue, the sleeping bags would accompany the boots. We have a small room with two single beds in a nice hotel, while the albergue would have 4 bunk beds (8 people) in the same space. Age has it's comfort requirements.
Starting to see and get to know the same people now as we are all walking about the same pace. Many just stay in the allergies but a few like us like the more private rooms. Everyone has a story and some pretty interesting people. Europeans seem to be big on long walks. Lots of the walking from Le Puy, which is 12 weeks to Santiago.
Maybe next year.
This town is worlds away from Pamplona and from the busy world.
