I first arrived into Kigali after a 9 hour bus ride from Kampala on the Jaguar bus. I was really tired after arriving and with the two american freinds I made we made our way to a lodge which was quite exspensive, there is not that much budget accomadation in Rwanda.
The next day we headed off to Gisenyi near the border of Rwanda and the DRC for a few days.
I returned to Kigali on the 5th of May and spent the night in a church accomadation where I had my own room. The church accomadation tended to the best budget option in Kigali and was close to town. On the day of the 6th I went to the Kigali Memorial Centre which showed the history of the Rwanda Genocide.
The museam was quite intersting and was split up into 3 parts, before the genocide, during the genocide and the aftermafe. There was also a section comparing the Rwandan genocide to other genocides around the world.
The museam was quite powerful as it showed some explicit images and a lot of people who had been there before had told me about them and said how they were really moved, but I was not that moved even though they were quite powerful. The tragic story was how the internation community just watched as it went on and how men could do such tragic things to one another.
The museam is definatley worth a visit if you are in Kigali and there are hardly any tourists there or in Kigali itself or Rwanda for that matter which is really nice!
Kigali itself is a really smart and modern place, alot of money had been pumped in to the country after the genocide and you can really tell!
