Whilst working in South Africa I went to Lesotho twice, the first time was in 2006 and the second was in 2007.

The first time I went to Lesotho I went to Masseru which is the capital of the country on the west side of the country. To get to Lesotho I had to get a coach from Joburg and stay overnight in Bloemfontein. When I arrived in Bloem there was no where for me to stay so I got friendly with the guy working for the bus company and he let me sleep on the floor in his office which wasn't the best night sleep but still beggars cant be choosers.

The next day I jumped on another bus that took me to the border of South Africa and Lesotho. Once I crossed the border I jumped in a taxi and headed for the capital. Once there I got my bearings and found some near by attractions. Masseru hasn't got that much to offer so its best to get out of the city as the nearby scenery is stunning.

The second time I went to Lesotho I was going as part of a work trip as we were organising weekend trips for our volunteers so I was going for free which is always nice.

I was picked up in Pietermaritzburg and we headed towards sani pass to get on a 4 x 4. Sain pass is the route between South Africa and Lesotho and the road takes you up 2865meters into Lesotho. The road is very bumpy but the view is spectacular and you get a great view of the Drakensburg mountain range which is stunning. Once you get on top of the mountain we went to Africa's highest pub to get some lunch and then went for a short visit to see a local village before heading down the mountain and back to Pietermaritzburg.

Overall Lesotho is a very beautiful country with a stunning mountain range and if you things like this then it is a good place to visit.
