We Thought about possibly staying an extra night in Adelaide but a sense of urgency set in to press on. So we packed up camp and left, destination Port Augusta.
Port Augusta or Port 'A Gutter' as it's dubbed by Adelaidians is about 4.5hr drive (including another stop at Super Cheap Auto to sort out navman)which is both long and quite boring. However, the endless road trains will help keep you on your toes when they pass. We didn't actually stop at PA as again we felt that sense of urgency was still. Also what we saw of the place it pretty much lived up to it's nickname.
For the night we ended up at a Small town called Kimba which quite fittingly is exactly at the half way point of west to east coasts. Not only does it boast this but it also has, for some reason unkown to myself, a giant Gala statue. I love weird places I do!!
The drive form Port Augusta to Kimba saw a real change in scenery and I know feel like we've reached the real "Outback". Who knows with a ute, wife beaters, a cattle dog and a tendancy to talk 'dinkum aussie' out the side of my mouth I could call this place home!
Gem's note: Loved this place, not sure why. This was our first stop at a true blue Aussie Roadhouse! Cheap camp, with everything a town needs neatly contained in one petrol station, oh and the giant Gala of course!
