Up early and on the road again, there's a surprise. We had a quick stop in Warrnambool to try to exchange our Navman as it resembles a Spectrum loading (not good for navigation) But no luck in exchange, Maps it is then! Thanks Super Cheap Auto!!That's enough of my moaning… We crossed into our third state today and first stop was Mt Gambier (oh and had another Tyre blow out on the way Exciting!!) where we found a really cheap yet adequate campsite on a horse racing track of all places (no races on, might've dented the van). So we set up camp and went in search of the famous Blue Lake. Now we set ourselves up for a major anti-climax (easy now Dave not that type of climax) but were pleasantly surprised when we swathe lake. The lake itself is formed in an inactive volcano and due to the sulphur deposits in there the water filters into the lake and stores as a stark blue, which is nice. After some food and an early tiffin (only about 2 people will get that joke) we ventured to find another Mt Gambier landmark the Umpherston Sinkhole. Now I ask who would put a place of historical and natural beauty in the middle of an industrial estate? It is essentially a collapsed cave but some bright Victorian bloke thought it'd make a nice garden, was he right? He wasn't wrong. Also met the locals nicknamed deadrie and Ken (by us) your friendly neighbourhood possums.Started to pee it down "fine rain soaks you through" so early night and a fairly big drive to Adelaide tomorrow, about 450km.
Gem's note: Mount Gambier will live on in my heart as the scariest night sleep of my life, camping totally alone in the middle of a racecourse was far to surreal. Due to the nature of its location this is also the first time in my adult life I have peed in the bushes...fact!
