So...... down the winding roads we'd climbed up the day before in a cronky old bus, with a driver who didnt know how to blow his nose!!!!! Get to KL at 6pm after a 5hour journey. City looked fab even from inside the bus.
We all checked into Chinatown 2 Hotel in ..... guess what...... CHINATOWN!!! Nice hotel compared to what we'd stayed in the night before, aircon, hot shower, a tv (ben was chuffed!) but unfortunately, no windows. Me Ben Laura and Shelley left the group (again) and headed off on our own. We went straight to the KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers) and climed the steps from the MRT up to ground level. What greeted us was spectacular-the towers were totally lit up and looked fab in the night, they were huge and just lokking up at them made us dizzy!!! Planned to go back the next day to try and get 4 of the limited visitor passes so that we could travel up the towers. We met up with one of the girls friends who had been living in KL for 3 years and so he told us all about the place and we had a nice meal in Chillies(splashed out a bit) He then took us to a bar called the Luna Bar, located on the 34th floor of a skyscraper. Couldnt get in cuz we all had flipflops on which was a bit annoying but we managed to grab a flyer from outside so we got to see wot it looked like inside-even had a swimming pool.
The next day we met the girls at 8 and went straight to the Petronas Towers, managed to get the visitor passes so we were pretty pleased. The towers are symmetric and are 88 storeys high, standing at 452m above street level. Visitors get a lift to the 41st floor and cross the bridge which joins them. The view was amazing although there was a lot of haze due to the fires in Indonesia. We then headed to the Menara Tower, which was impressive but not as much as the Petronas as the haze really spoilt the view. The tower is the worlds 4th largest communications tower-421m tall, the cn tower in Canada is 553m.
Next we headed to Merdeka Square and saw the worlds largest flag pole. This is where Ben invented 'PAFO' because we were rushing round everywhere trying to take pics in one day. PAFO stands for "picture and fck off'-sorry Mum, Dad!!!! We then went to KL's biggest mosque- Masjid Jamek which was pretty impressive although we didnt go in as it was prayer time.
We then caught a bus 14km out of KL and went to the Batu Caves which were located at the top of 272 steps which is home to a hindu temple and festival place. Scenery at the top of the caves was breathtaking. The bus journey back was hair-raising as the driver thought it was funnyto try and knock pedestrians over. The more we screamed everytime he did it, the more he would do it.
That night our tour guide took us to a really grotty Chinese where the food was quite expensive and not too good. We finished our last few hours doing some quick shopping in the night market stocking up on some fake boardies for Ben. Heading to Melaka tomorrow, update you all soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
