Penang was a eye-opener!!
After arriving in Penang after a 10 hour journey by mini-van we checked into the Hing Pong Hotel in Chinatown. The hotel was ok at best but to Ria's satisfaction it had a duvet!!!! Silly as it sounds when you haven't slept in one for 4 weeks it's quite a luxury compared to a cloth blanket!! We only spent a 1 whole day here even if it was 2 nights and the bridge across from mainland to Georgetown was very impressive!! Malaysia seems a few years ahead of Thailand in building and roads but once you get down down it appears the same. It was the first time we really seen lady boys on street corners and cars curb crawling for women not a pretty sight let me assure you....Ria was disgraced!! I was a little curious and found it funny!!
Anyway not taking anything away from Penang its cuisine was very cheap we had a lovely Indian and drinks for only 2.50pound that was for 2 and i was very impressed with the day tour we went on. It took us to Fort Cornwallis a british base years ago and even better Kek Lok temple the best i have seen so far stunning views from high location and the buddha's are very impressive we spent 2 hours there and had plenty of photos to show. The funniest thing here was the year of your birth was represented by a animal....Ria was a 'pig' not hard to believe hehe...that mean't she was honest, ambitious and eveyones friend!!.....Hmmmm!!! Mine in typical fashion was the 'Rat' who'd have guessed hey!!...anyway i was graced with charm, very aggressive and a go-getter.....i was starting to believe it lol!!!
There's not much else to do here 2 days was enough so where on our way to Cameron Highlands next 'Tea Plantation' yummy......everyone knows how much i love Tea...xxxxxx
