Rentsch's Around Australia
We left the beautiful national park on 21/04 and headed to a free camp near Streaky Bay called Murphy's Haystacks. The haystacks are not actually haystacks but large granite bolders that stick out of the ground. The area is private property and owned by a local farmer, Mr Cash. Mr Cash is Murphy's grandson. The tennis player Pat Cash and his family also come from the area. The area around here, like the York and Eyre Peninsula is all cropping. Mr Cash has 4000 acres and says he is small time. Many farms are around 25,000 acres. The ocean dew even in wet years ensures stable crops in all these SA costal areas. A bad year in all these areas is 1 tonne an acre.
