We arrived at Mataranka on Saturday afternoon, checking into the Bitter Springs Caravan Park. No time to set up, it was straight to the springs that we had heard so much about. Bitter Springs is a natural hot spring that flows in the Roper Creek. It is around 30 degrees in temperature and gently flows south. We spent another three great days in Darwin exploring the area and spending more time at both the Leanyer and Palmerston water parks. On Sunday we went to the Museum & Art Gallery Northern Territory. This was a really great place to visit for the family. We learnt about Cyclone Tracey, reptiles, mammals, 'Sweetheart' a local five metre crocodile, local Indigenous people, early maritime history and lots of other things. We arrived in Darwin on Friday 19th of June after leaving Edith Falls. It was probably the worst weekend to come to Darwin as the as V8 Super Cars are on and it is the beginning of the school holidays. Accommodation is not only expensive here but it is all booked out.
