After a long day of travelling we arrived at our hotel in Bangkok, and as we were quite far from the city we decided to stay at the hotel and have an early night.
Tom's dad comes to Thailand a lot and recommended a private taxi driver he uses called William. William picked us up from the airport, then during the drive to our hotel, arranged a fun filled day to take us on the next day at a really good price!
After a good nights sleep in a nice, air-conditioned room, he picked us up at 7:45am and firstly took us to the Train Market. The train market is a railway track where hundreds of people set up market stalls. Three times a day a train comes through this track which means everyone has to pack their stalls away in a rush to make way for the train! We stopped to watch the commotion as the train came through. It was pretty cool. I took a video.
Next stop was The Floating Market! This was a canal where you hop on a gondola with a little old lady sitting at the back rowing, and you go around a bunch of stalls on little huts in the water which are on the same level as you, so you never get out of the boat! This was really cool too!
William then took us to a place for a nice buffet lunch, then on to the Tiger Temple... An animal reserve run by monks where me and Tom touched and had photos with tigers!! There were also big black bears, baby bears, dear, bulls, pigs, horses, birds... all sorts! It's been the best first day in Thailand!

Pat Ibbetson Can't imagine what you can possibly get up to next after photo shoot with tigers and touching them. Timmy and Salem will be jealous. Love A.Pat x
Dad Hi Jess. The only competition to the Train Market here in Cardiff, are the idiots who park their cars in the middle of Wellfield Road, in order to use the Lloyds cashpoint. The first time it happened, I stopped and stared in complete shock, but it seems to be becoming a regular occurrence. Just a notch or two down the exotic scale from Thailand, though... You certainly managed to pack a lot into your first day - I like the idea of the Tiger Temple. Perhaps we could do something similar here...a Slug Synagogue, perhaps?
Chris Blackler Hi Jess, Well every blog seems to get more and more exciting than the one before. You are having such a brill time and Uncle Dave and I are so enjoying hearing about your travels and the friends you are making. I hope you are able to get work when you go back to Oz. My cousin's daughter Natalie is out there at the moment doing the same sort of travelling as you. It would be amazing if you met her ! I was SO impressed with your snorkling and even more so that you were in close proximity to a shark . What with the Nevis Swing and now sharks it is of great comfort to us that we keep getting your blogs !!! I'm going into town tomorrow to see a friend from my dancing days and then Uncle Dave and I are going to the ballet. Uncle Dave had a prang in his car on Monday. He had just dropped me into work and was on his way back home on Park Place and a young girl came out of the side turning by the museum and went straight into him. The passenger side is smashed up, bonnet all up in the air and lights smashed etc. Fortunately Uncle Dave was OK (although a bit shocked) but the police were soon on the scene and the girl admitted it was her fault. We had to hire a car from Enterprise and luckily they gave us a polo like ours which was helpful because the next day we were driving up to London. Auntie Pat went back to NCL on Wednesday and had a good journey from her trip down here. We had a good time with Pat and Wendy being down and now Unc. Glyn and Aunty Marilyn are in Banff, Alberta - skiing. Have rabbited on too long. Great hearing about you. Would recommend that you make a note of actual places you take photos of, and actually write down the names of the people in photos because, even though you may not think so, you WILL forget some of the names once you get back. Great hearing from you. Love A. Chris and U. Dave xx
