Colleen & Tom's Explorations
This morning we anchored at Honningsvag. We had a big brekky because we will be away from the ship for lunch.
We tendered ashore and were taken by coach to Nordkapp, stopping at a Sami camp and souvenir shop along the way. There were a lot of cars and campervans at North Cape. We went down to the globe of the world and took photos. It was beautiful sunny day. After buying postcards and souvenirs, we wrote on the postcards and posted them immediately so they would have a special stamp. Then we went down the special tunnel that was built for the King of Norway and has a viewing platform in the side of the cliffs. We had "Glogg" while we were there - a warm red wine with nuts and raisins in it. Then we boarded one of the many Cunard coaches for the trip back, not realising the driver was in a big hurry - what a trips!! The roads are so winding and narrow!!!
We passed wild reindeer herds along the way - it was a hot day and the reindeer were seated on the ice!!
We arrived back in Honningsvag and did more souvenir shopping before getting the tender back. When it was time to go Tom and I stood under the bridge and watched while the anchor was pulled up, we gave 3 mighty blasts on the horn (as always) and motored off.
Dinner in the Caronia tonight was lambshanks, followed by the magician's act in the lounge.
Postscript: Tom sent Auntie Joan a postcard in an envelope from Nordkapp, which was opened by the authorities because it had traces of drugs on it!!!
