Colleen & Tom's Explorations
This morning we had a leisurely breakfast in the dining room, chatting with a lovely couple at the next table - Pat and Rod from Manchester. They've been to Australia 22 times, including when they decided to have their daughter's wedding in Perth so they could have a holiday. They own a couple of houses in Perth (he was an accountant for Price Waterhouse) and have lived all around the world. After Brekky we went ashore to check out the artisans stores in the port terminal. On the way out we met a couple from Mosman who have a couple of hundred hectares on the Fysh River they visit every week (driving through the Blue Mountains of course). Unfortunately there was no electricity (some sort of outage) in the terminal building so you could hardly see the wares and you could only pay by cash. We did buy some amber and some earrings though - and a nice little headband for someone we know. We decided to skip lunch today, and do afternoon tea instead. I went to do the washing but had to wait in our stateroom for an hour or so as the washers were all busy. Eventually got it done though. We went to afternoon tea at 4pm, which was quite delightful. At 5.30 we went to trivia for the first time. We were the youngest people there and the questions were really hard, but we scored 13/23. At 6.30 we went to the lounge just down the hall for the pre-dinner show which was great. And then dinner! We had a table for two in Allan's area but we served by Roger, a Spanish waiter who has just joined the ship and is being mentored by Allan. Dinner for me was a crab cake followed by chicken thighs stuffed with crayfish accompanied by truffled leeks, plated with a small crayfish on the side! (Tom had a vegetable tart with anchovies followed by lemon sole). Then some appenzeller cheese with crackers and a glass of Cadillac - a wonderful sticky French wine from the town of Cadillac in Bordeaux. Finished off with limoncello sorbet! Wonderful.
