Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Up early this morning (after placing our luggage out last night), to find that we'd docked in Valparaiso, right next to the Chilean navy. Quick brekkie in the Lido and then sit and wait, sit and wait until 8.30-8.45 when we could leave the ship. After collecting the luggage we found our local Bunniks tour guide outside. We had a tour of Valparaiso, including walking around the streets and catching the funicular down the hill to the port area. Then we drove over to Vina del Mar, which is very similar to Coolangatta - this is a major resort for Chile, and many Argentinians own holiday units here. It will be very busy over Easter. We saw boobies, pelicans, cormorants and sea lions before having lunch in a local seafood restaurant. We then started the two hour journey to Santiago where we were booked in to a lovely hotel, in a lovely area. We have free wifi all over the hotel - it's wonderful! The tallest building in South America is four blocks away. After settling in to our rooms and catching up with lots of Internet happenings, we went for a walk around our area and came across an Irish pub where we found Kerry and Dianne, Kay and Rod, so we joined them for dinner!
