Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Lovely quiet day on board today. Sleep in, late Brekky. Leisurely time for the ship too as we timed to reach a certain shallow shoal at high tide as we had very little space (4ft) under the keel. We navigated this area really slowly with the Chilean pilot on board. We went to a talk by the First Officer - a virtual tour of the bridge. He was very interesting and amusing and, when someone asked, he admitted that we are not allowed to go straight from the Falklands to Ushuaia in Argentina because they get very offended. That's why we go to Punta Arenas in Chile in between. After a lunch of chicken burgers up by the pool we went to their talk about chart use. Electronic charts are becoming more popular (no, not Google maps). This afternoon we sailed into a dead end fjord to see the Brujo Glacier - it was magnificent!! And sitting in a bay of bergy bits with dolphins swimming around was lovely!!! We had dinner in the Italian restaurant tonight (extra $20) - very nice food. This was followed by a special happy hour for all Aussies and kiwis up in the Crows Nest. We caught up with the Bunnikins. And on our bed was a toweling penguin!!!
