I cant explain to you how drunk I managed to get last night in one bar in two hours. It involved ten jagerbombs and I was passed out on the bedroom floor, propped up against the wall / patio door by 11pm! Im not sure if its something I should be proud of or not?! Lets just say that I missed the bathroom and ended up throwing up at least twice out the window and over the balcony. I dont even remember getting to the room, nothing. My memory of last night has gone!
I woke up at 8pm this morning because I was going up to The Remarkables Mountains for a day of skiing. It was raining when I woke up so I imagined that the snow would be pretty crappy and slushy and impossible to snow on. I was wrong. I took the free shuttle 45 minutes out of town, up the mountains and arrived at 10am. The bus trip was horrible, especially with having a hangover and suffering from motion sickness at the same time - which resulted in me asking the bus driver to pull over so that I could be sick on the side of the road and again as soon as we got to the mountains! Get me - classy! I was actually not impressed and felt awful - the worst I have ever felt, EVER!
JB joined me an hour later on the slopes to snowboard with me for the day. We were both as sick as each other and only managed two ski runs before having to have an hours break in the cafe - and some much earned sleep! I had to run to the toilet a couple of times because I felt that bad. Damn the jagerbombs!
The weather wasnt great when we got to the mountains, there was very low cloud and we were unable to see a meter in front of our faces whilst skiing, so we had to take it slowly. By lunchtime, the cloud had gone and the sun had come out. There was 20cm of snow last night, so the snow runs and skiing off piste was awesome. We met up with James (from the KIWI bus) in the afternoon and did a couple of runs with him, we had such a good day - would definately ski here again if I had the chance to.
We got back to the hostel at 6pm, had a quick shower and JB took me to the cinema to see Eagle Eye - the film was okay, but to be honest, we were both feeling a bit sick and tired, so we couldnt really concentrate whilst watching the film. Its almost midnight now, Im staying well away from the drink tonight. Ive just been to the bar and told the barman that he got me so drunk last night that I was cursing him all day today. JB was adament that he was trying to 'pick me up' last night. Whatever - he did a rubbish job of it if thats what he was trying to do because I didnt even make it to closing time because everytime I went to the bar, he was pouring me more drinks that I didnt pay for! Result!
We are leaving Queenstown tomorrow to drive eight hours north back to Christchurch for one night. Apparently theres a snow storm coming in, so we will have to drive with the chains on the bus wheels tomorrow. Exciting stuff!
