Had a great evening last night, just sat infront of the fire with a few of the people from the bus. Really nice people. Dinner was lovely, even had a slice of cheesecake! Met some people from America, Germany, Ireland and Australia.
My alarm went off at 08:00 this morning to give me time to have a shower before JB picked us up at 09:15 to head down to Greymouth for the night.
We stopped off at the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, which was amazing. Youll see what I mean when you see the pictures. It was really windy, but it added to the affect of the waves crashing against the rocks and coming up the blowholes. We had pancakes in the cafe and then moved on to the seal colony for a ten minute walk uphill to see the seals. They were so cute, quite a distant away, but you could see them.
We hopped on the bus and stopped off in Greymouth town to visit the Salvation Army shop. Basically, we have a themed party tonight at the 'poo pub' in Greymouth. The place we are staying is run by Les, a 90 year old Kiwi, who swears alot but loves the backpackers that stay here. Anyway, we all had a vote on the bus this morning about what the theme would be and the majority ruled it to be 'Charity Shop Special'. So we went to the charity shop and had to buy whatever we could find and wear it tonight. Im actually going as a granny. I have a sexy long nightdress, a woolen jumper (which Ive cut into a cardigan), an apron and curlers in my hair. Classy! I spent $6 on my costume (2 pounds) plus another $2 on accessories. You should have seen 31 people get off a bus and run towards the charity shop, so funny!
Les and JB are cooking dinner for us tonight, Venison Stew and Steak. We are staying in Grymouth for one night before heading down to Franz Josef Glacier. Im really excited about this part of the trip because I have signed up for an eight hour trek up and through the Franz Josef Glazier. It will be amazing and Im really excited. We are staying in Franz Josef village for two nights and then driving down to Lake Wanaka for one night, then onto Queenstown for three nights.
