Portosin - Ria de Muros - Castro de Baronas
Click on the date box above to see Sad Nerds in Muros for 3 August - wifi searching
Well, we came over as planned after touring Muros market in the morning. Got bikes out and found our way to the Castro de Barona. It was over 16 miles there and back and up lots and lots of hills - exhausting, poor little legs. But it was worth it. The Castro or hill fort was huge, the outlines, the walls and terracing very well preserved. Apparently this one is iron age, probably inhabited by the Praestamarcos Tribe! Yes, well. Most of the rooms are round, one gateway but no other evidence of windows or doors. Spectacular setting - it was a shame that we had misty murky conditions so didn't see it at its most striking Some pictures added though to give a flavour.
Sat over drinks on Magnetic Attraction with a young French chap who Roger was helping with some weather info. He was sailing solo, all the way from Toulon (Med S France) to La Rochelle (Atlantic France). He had no info, not much in the way of charts, and not much sleep. Cheerful though!
To Noia manana.
Wednesday 5th August
Took the bus to Noia, very very glad we did not cycle - a long way, up and down, more up than down and a bit disappointing. Took time to find the old town from the industrial side bits to find it under "restauracion" - ie all the roads being dug up!
Back for last supper with R & M, we off to the Ria de Arousa tomorrow, Magnetic Attraction weather watching for going north.
