Caught the night ferry across to Santorini, but arrived at 3:30am so got the sleeping bags out and slept at the port for a few hours waiting for the sun to rise. The plan was to go camping straight away but scored a room for 20 euro's so lived it up in luxury for a night. Then found the campground the next day which was half price and right on the beach so moved there for 3 nights.
Time was spent chilling on the black sand beach of Perissa then swimming in the cyrstal clear waters with volcanic rock under your feet so feels a bit like a giant swimming pool; climing a big hill to see an ancient city; hiking up a volcano and swiming in what they called thermal hot springs (more like lukewarm muddy water); and checking out the village of Oia to watch the sunset. The highlight would've been spending time in Oia, a beautiful and very romantic village with amazing views. Unfortunatly the night we were there to watch the sunset the clouds came along, but still amazing.
We seemed to attract the stray dogs and had one very loyal german shepard who came and sat on Mark's tee shirt on the beach and from the moment never left our side, no matter how hard we tried to loose him. We named him flappy (after his ear).
We had a bit of time to kill at the port as we were leaving Santorini and ending up in a a couple of locals shop chatting to them for a couple of hours. One of the guys was a jewlery maker and I got sucked into buying a greek ring off him for 10 euros, probably got ripped off, but they were very kind and looked after our bags and gave us a free glass of local red wine.
