Hello from PARIS!
SO excited to FINALLY be here.
We sadly departed Brighton at 2.45 for our 7 oclock jetstar flight to Paris. I was unaware that we had booked our flights not from Gatwick 20 minutes away but LUTON TWO HOURS AWAY! Poor Smirf (Courtneys mum Claires boyfriend) was somehow conned into giving us a lift- thought i dont know how you could call a two hour trip a 'lift'. Fortunately Smirfs car picks up any traffic updates automatically from the radio. Everynow and then our beyonce and sclub tunes would be interrupted to inform us of a major crash on the freeway- no biggy we'll go around! and hit ALL the school traffic and people diverging!!! so we were stuck in traffic anyway and we still had at least an hour to go to get the airport- would be make it in time?!
Luckily we made it at 5 on the dot and made our way through to the check in. This moved incredibly slowly.. things must be different in London- no sense of urgency! After checking in our bags we moved up to security. oh my GOOOOOD!!! ive never seen somewhere SO busy! there was a hugely long line just waiting to get through the x-rays. It compared to the opening of a new apple product at the apple store! So we snail paced our way through the line and after paying a pound to get sealable plastic bags for my 'liguids' we finally made it through...
And into the most hectic departure lounge!! It made NO sense. Where we the gates? Where were places to sit?? There were people lined along the walls, having found no other place to sit while others sought comfort in the high chairs of the pub- yes PUB- located in the centre of the lounge. Some enjoyed this service ore than others as Courtney and I watched a severely intoxicated man abusing his mate at he swayed to and fro and then gently being escorted out by the police! Unlucky mate.
Courtney and I after doing multiple laps of the premises conceded to finding a place on the floor against the wall in view of the departures screen. Little did we know we would be spending 40 hours MORE there as our flight got delayed!!! FINALLY they called our flight and we went in search of Gate 2- which turned out to be 50 km away!!! We weaved through the busy corridors to finally make our way to Gate 2 where we managed to squeeze past the people lined out the doorway and to our own line. This was followed by an extra half hour wait standing in line next two a group of young typical american sorority girls. as in they were actually talking about their SORORITY and how they hoped to stay best friends with everyone FOREVER. Toooo much!
FINALLY we were allowed to board as we made our way on to our small Easyjet aircraft. But before we could leave the flight attendant got our attention to inform us that someone had left some luggage at the top of the stairs but the tag didnt belong to this flight. Courtney and I looked at each other. I mysterious piece of luggage just happens to appear at the entry of the plane and it doesnt belong to ANYONE here. SURELY they arent that stupid. CLEARLY ITS A BOMB!!!!!!!! Not only does he then hold it up, he proceeds to carry it down the aisle incase anyone recognises it! At this point Courtney and I say our goodbyes- we are doomed for SURE! Fortunately the mystery piece of luggage did not explode into a million pieces taking us with it and we were finally able to depart Luton airport :) (you can breathe a sigh of relief)
When we finally touched down into Charles de Gaulle airport PARIS an hour later we were glad to finally be in our destination. Unfortunately landing doesnt necessarily mean you are there yet, according to the Parisians. After putting our wheels firmly on the ground we started to cruise up to our date 20 kms away!!!! They must have decided all of us would LOVE an EXTRA ten minutes experiencing the driving abilities of an Airbus 130! They thought wrong. It was the longest taxi EVER, we even crossed over major freeways in our big airplane! Crazy.
When we landed we both got our luggage no worries- Now just the challenge of finding out how to get to our airport... by 12 oclock!!! We landed just after 10.30 and was hoping we had enough time to get to an airport hotel! You'd think. So we set off in search of any means of transport to get us to our crash point. We proceeded along a corridor- first following the signs saying shuttle, then spotting one saying hotel! We resided in the fact that if we just kept going we were sure to hit SOMETHING!! We followed some business men for what seemed like miles and one remarked that if we kept going we were sure to catch up with ourselves! I laughed along and he gave me a strange look over his shoulder. haha but it WAS funny! and we were all thinking it.
After walking and walking and walking we finally came across a hotel information board- which wasn't working- GREAT! Thought we saw an arrow pointing up and followed the men up the stairs with our giant bags. This proved extremely difficult! I swear im gonna come back with giant guns after having to carry my back up flights of stairs! Luckily we found our desitnation! The hotel shuttle.
Within two minutes we had all crammed into this black bus shuttle due to take us the 1.2 km to our airport hotels. Which was more like 10kms!!! People here clearly make these things up! It took us ages to get to our destination and had to endure groups of obnoxious travellers- terrible.
FINALLY we made it to our stop- Only Suite Hotel. As we walked into the lobby we were astounded by the fancy interior with its cool furniture and paintings. None of this compared to the LIVE CAT lounging on a fancy couch. Just casually a CAT!!! Only in Paris. We exchanged jaggered conversation with the reception lady, with the help of Courtneys year 9 french and made our way up to the elevator to our room- FINALLY
When we walked in we were taken aback by the pure class of our amazing apartment! So lucky to finally be here and in an amazing location. We sussed out our free stuff- of course the highest priority and searched for an english channel on the tv located at the end of our bed. After spreading our stuff out to resemble us actually LIVING in the flat we made our way into bed. The COMFIEST BED IN THE WORLD! But actually it was amazing. As we said our goodnights and went ot turn out the light we both let out an ooooh. As the WINDOW from the bathroom to our room was left open with the light on! GROAN. Other than that- flawless apartment and flawless SLEEP!!!
Untill next time xx

Linda FANTASTIC! I'm rating this missive a massive * * * * * stars. I love how distance and time both stretched ... 500 metres becomes 50 kilometres and 40 minutes becomes 40 hours. Ha! What a L ... O ... N ... G day.
Angela Hahaha this is the best one so far!! Sounds like the adventure is going amazingly :) x
rachelmartino Thanks guys! It's so nice to know what you think and that our reading it! Haha. I accidentally wrote the hours instead of minutes but it sounded like something I'd say anyway. Think I'm starting to get the hang of it a bit more now and had lots to write about which was good :) no free Internet while we are in Disneyland so watch this space Tuesday for a big Disneyland run down x
