Next stop: Prague. There was a lot of build up for Prague as the majority of the people who had been touring for over 30 days had promised that their lack of fun was all going to be made up when they got to Prague. Luckily all but some managed not to disappoint and we had a sick night! Being known for having the best nightclubs we arrived in Prague helped ourselves to an awful free dinner and started the getting ready process for our big night out! We had a pub-crawl arranged that started in the centre of town where a gorgeous clock stood in the centre of the square. The story goes that when the king saw how beautiful the clock was he didn't want any others to be made like it. So as a reward for the clock makers' hard work and creating such an amazing sight, he took his eyes out!!! Funnily enough it stopped working and they couldn't figure out what was wrong for another 200 years!!!
So after walking a billion miles and catching two trains into the square for an extremely brief city tour, we made our way to the first bar where we enjoyed a shot and left. Then on to our second bar slash club down a big staircase and into a room with bar and dj that we PACKED full of topdeckers. The music there was amazing and we danced our heart out while Millie did her best to set all the single ladies up. Each night before we would go out she would tell us to make her proud and hook up with some hotties for her haha But she definitely earned her 'best match maker' name proven by Vath who picked them up left right and centre.
Next we headed to a five story club that I was hoping would prove much more impressive than the let down in Barcelona that claimed to play different music that apparently to the untrained techno ear I could not distinguish! We struck GOLD with an amazing club, peaking in to each floor on our way to the top meeting point. We actually ended up only staying on the fourth floor the entire night because we didn't want to take the risk of leaving and loosing our topdeck crew! Luckily I think we found the ultimate floor with perfect dance music and had an awesome night all together before exiting the sauna pit and taxiing home. What a night :)
Next day we were back on our feet heading into town to see the famous clock by day and walk over the Charles bridge with Prague paraphernalia and street artists. Once we got to the other side we decided it was time for lunch and detoured off the main road to find something inexpensive. We successfully managed to track down a nice café with amazingly fresh baguettes. We all had the same ham, cheese and salad baguette which avoided any food envy and it came out looking super gourmet and before I knew it, it was gone! In my belly. Unfortunately I don't think the lovely waiter quite knew what he was in for when the five of us girls started questioning Maddy about what she had seen in her visit to the sex museum. When we went past this morning most had joked about going in while two had already invested in tickets before everyone else bailed on their word to go in. Which left Maddy with the youngest boy George to experience the delights of the sex museum. SO that took up most of our lunch break being grossed out by weird contraptions Maddy enlightened us about. Ew. Luckily we had already eaten!
A group us then explored the possibility of going to a puppet show that was only showing later that night then went back through the town and onto the train back home. When we departed one of the stations the up escalator was being crammed full of passengers trying to get up whilst the down was completely free. Naturally I attempted the down escalator twice reaching over two-thirds before failing :( I hadn't realised how far I had gotten and when they just keep coming at me and it sends signals that you are getting NO where so I gave up. But NEXT station I mentally prepared myself (and tackled a slightly smaller escalator) and achieved the ultimate feat. SUCCESS!!! Potentially one of the biggest highlights of the trip… haha
That night most people were wrecked from having one big night and I was determined to get people KEEN while we were in the party centre of the world!!! Unfortunately only the hard core were able to make it for our big hoorah. We had extra incentives to be heading out a) to see off Simon who was leaving the tour in Prague and b) to show Anastasia what Prague nightlife was like after she mistakenly ended up in couple central on the first night who all headed home! I was determined to have a good night for their sake. So we FINALLY made it out by 12 for the last train in, bumping into Achilles and Loren on the way out. We were so excited! They HAD to come out with us and were apparently on their way home to get changed and pick up Achilles camera to document the Prague nightlife for his documentary he has been making about the best nightclubs in Europe which so far contained nothing because he somehow never managed to actually make it out… We were all sceptical. So after many reassurances and my threats that they must come out we headed out to meet them later.
First stop- a club in a church! Weird. After I managed to get us entirely lost and ensuring that on the plus side we got to see more of the city.. We made a quick maccas stop for free wifi and a bulk feed (which would normally occur at the end of the night so it was tempting not to just go home after that!). We made it there, paid entry and then pretty much all got lung cancer from the cigarette smoke fest of the club we entered. It was indeed a club IN a church with people going wild, lasers, free drinks (which actually turned out just to be a really awful tasting shot) and crazy music. In fact the music was not even in our language and was nothing we had ever heard of before! Though we were the ONLY 6 in the room who hadn't because the ENTIRE club was going off resembling when 'summer of 69' is played at the Shed! They were ALL singing along to their anthems while we stood around gobsmacked just trying to breathe properly! We thought surely there was another bar or dance floor in this massive Church! We went towards the stairs to go up only to be stopped and directed at a sign. Upstairs were the erotic shows, lap dances and lesbian shows for 3000 Czech crowns! No thank you!
When we made our way outside to fresh air we were met by pouring rain! Disaster. We took shelter in a cramped tunnel while we decided our next move. Luckily, Simon managed to figure out where the good bar from the night before was located and it was about ten metres in the rain! Totally doable. Definitely the best decision as the music was yet again fantastic though the company left a LOT to be desired. There were ONLY creepy weird men! Ergh. Luckily we were with a couple of guys from tour but if it had just been us girls it would have been a disaster. At one point one guy who looked EXACTLY like Neville Longbottom (not the actor- who now actually looks banging- the dorky character) just came up to our group and started dancing AT us! Could he not get the hint when we forcibly created a circle to block him OUT! After a good 15 minutes he finally attempted the next thing and managed to be hooking up within a minute! Not sure how but it got him off our backs. Other than the creepy guys we also had slutty girls dancing elaborately in our designated space! I mean c'mon, stick to the dance floor etiquette PLEASE! All in all a pretty successful night and I'm just glad we gave it a crack and showed Simon a good send off and Anastasia, who was having the time of her life, a true night out in Prague. Needless to say Achilles and Loren never made it out. Of course.
